Emily: Yes, it does actually. I don't have a problem w/ it, though, because
their religion is pretty much dead.

Thanks for your advice everyone! I think I figured out my own solution, though:
To me, it's sort of like wearing cross jewelry. Wearing a cross does not make you Christian. After all, you see goths and gangsters wearing crosses and most of them are faaaaar from being Christian. So, my reasoning is, wearing the Eye of Horus does not make me pagan. Case closed.

As long as you dont look at it as a symbol or anything, it should be fine. It is like, I am a Christian and I do yoga. But I dont "Find My Inner Spirits." and I dont go to a class I just stay at home and do it just for exercise.

Sun Jan 28, 2007 7:02 am   Topic: Weird Question About Jewelry

This question has been bugging me for the past week. First, I better explain. I will probably sound like a paranoid wacko, but it's been bugging me greatly.
I went to Philadelphia a few weeks ago. While I was there, I visited the University of Pennsylvania's Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, or UPenn Museum for short. I bought a necklace there. Not just any old necklace, but one w/ an Eye of Horus pendant. Anyone who's ever bothered to look at ancient Egyptian stuff should know what that eye looks like. Now, that doesn't seem like much, but I live in a small town that has yet to appreciate other cultures. And they often tend to condemn anything that looks foreign as non-Christian. I am a Christian, I am half-Chinese, and I see no reason to condemn other cultures as non-Christian. I am afraid to wear the pendant to church or even in public, because I could be accused of being pagan when I'm not. My old school even questioned me about an ankh sign on one of my books. I am not pagan, I just enjoy Egyptian culture, and would like to express it in my jewelry. And even if I was a pagan, I would find that insulting. So far, I have worn it to youth group w/o incident, but I don't know what they'll say if I keep wearing it.
Now my question is: What are everyone's opinions about that? Am I overreacting over a piece of jewelry? Or is this a real problem?
